Front Leg Side Kick

TaeKwonDo translates loosely into English as the "way of hand and foot". The Ohio University TaeKwonDo club  strives to guide women and men to better flexibility, speed, strength, and self-control both physically and mentally.

A typical class session starts with extensive stretching of both the lower and upper body and moves into a vigorous cardiovascular routine. Kicking and punching skills are then sharpened through the use of line drills that can incorporate targets. Free sparring (kyorugi) is taught to judge distance and timing. Self-defense (hoshinsul) is taught to increase body awareness, awareness of others, and effective techiques when your attacker is close. Forms (hyung, poomsae, or tul) are patterns practiced to develop better self-control and correct technique. For more information please see our page on TaeKwonDo Class Philosophy.
